Maggie - Voice, Piano
Maggie's interest in music education began in high school, where she had her first on-stage experiences in musicals. She finally joined the school choir her senior year and decided to attend the University of North Carolina-Greensboro to study music education as well as vocal performance. After one year as a double major, she decided to focus on her instrument as solely a performance major in order to better understand the mechanics of singing and how she might teach her own students. As a performance major, she participated in many school operas, performed two recitals, and took a semester of vocal pedagogy. She also studied piano and organ.
She graduated cum laude from UNC-G and immediately began her master’s degree at the University of Tennessee – Knoxville. There she continued performing, and had her first formal teaching experiences during the second of two semesters of vocal pedagogy, where she continued to develop her teaching philosophy and an appreciation for the work her students did. Today, Maggie continues to have a strong desire to help students understand their own voices so that they can gain confidence and share a part of themselves with others. She has two years professional teaching experience in voice, piano, and ukulele, and looks forward to many more.
